Cleaners Waterloo Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Cleaners Waterloo to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation in our operations and supply chains. Cleaners Waterloo provides professional cleaning services and recognises its responsibility to uphold the highest ethical standards and protect the rights and dignity of all workers.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Cleaners Waterloo has a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery in all its forms. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation or individual that is involved in, or benefits from, any practice that constitutes modern slavery, including forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, servitude or human trafficking.
All managers, employees and contractors are required to comply with this policy and to support the identification, prevention and reporting of any concerns related to modern slavery. Breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment or contract, and, where appropriate, referral to relevant authorities.
Our Supply Chain Standards
Our supply chain includes suppliers of cleaning products, equipment, workwear, subcontracted services and other ancillary services. We expect all suppliers and business partners to uphold the same ethical standards that we apply to ourselves.
As part of our supplier onboarding process, we require suppliers to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour, employment and human rights laws, and that they do not tolerate any form of modern slavery in their operations or supply chains. Where appropriate, suppliers are asked to provide relevant policies or statements and to demonstrate how they manage labour and human rights risks.
Supplier Assessment and Audits
Cleaners Waterloo assesses the risk of modern slavery within its supply chains based on sector, geography and the nature of services or products provided. Where we identify higher risk areas, we apply enhanced due diligence and monitoring.
We reserve the right to carry out supplier audits, which may include requesting documentation, reviewing employment practices, and, where feasible, conducting site visits. These audits are designed to confirm that workers are employed voluntarily, working conditions are safe, working hours are reasonable, and wages are paid in line with legal and contractual requirements.
If any non-compliance or serious concern is identified, we will work with the supplier to agree a corrective action plan within a defined timeframe. Failure to address concerns may lead to suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Cleaners Waterloo encourages an open culture where concerns about modern slavery can be raised without fear of retaliation. Employees, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery, whether occurring within our own operations or in our supply chains.
Concerns may be raised to line managers or senior management, or through existing internal reporting mechanisms. All reports will be treated sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. We will investigate all concerns promptly, take appropriate remedial action, and cooperate fully with law enforcement or regulatory bodies where required.
No person raising a concern in good faith will suffer any form of detriment, victimisation or retaliation as a result of speaking up.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to building awareness of modern slavery risks across our workforce. Relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment and supplier management, receive guidance on identifying indicators of modern slavery and on the correct procedures for escalating concerns.
We continue to review and improve our training materials so that employees understand their responsibilities and are able to recognise and respond to potential issues effectively.
Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement
Cleaners Waterloo recognises that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We monitor the effectiveness of our policies and procedures through regular reviews of our supply chain arrangements, risk assessments, incident reports and audit outcomes.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually by senior management to ensure it remains effective, relevant and aligned with current legislation and best practice. Where necessary, we update our approach and communicate any changes to employees and key suppliers.
This statement reflects the commitment of Cleaners Waterloo to prevent modern slavery and to promote fair, safe and respectful working conditions throughout our operations and supply chains.
